Abstract:
Dining in the outdoors has recently become a readily adopted culture in Pakistan. Ten
years ago this idea was open and available only to men but recently the culture has
outgrown for all ages and sex. We now see a great change in the way people dine out.
Not only do customers love the idea of alfresco dining but they keenly follow and
lookup for restaurants and cafes who offer good outdoor dining setup along with good
food obviously. With that wave of change and newly developed interest of the
customers, we see how many of the business owners are taking advantage ofthe idea
and are looking for ways to attract more customers by providing a good environment
with tasty food in the outdoors. There are a number of restaurants being setup
everyday based entirely on the idea of an outdoor dining setup or else we see old
restaurants/ cafes shifting or renovating their space to incorporate an outdoor dining
setup.
The patio furniture available in the market is not generalized but is also inefficient
when it comes to functionality. The design solutions for outdoor furniture
available in the market are unable to cater to problems such as heat, cold, wind,
insects, portability, maintenance and above all functionality and comfort. Outdoor
dining setup causes a great deal of ups and downs in the businesses alone due to
unfavorable environmental factors. Hence, the idea is to cater to this
inconvenience at both ends of the user and of the business owners.
Hence, the idea is to propose a packaged solution that considers all shortcomings
of an outdoor dining setup, creating a product that is functional, aesthetically
pleasing and cost effective.
