Abstract:
With almost half of the population of Pakistan consisting of women, there is a
significant increase in employment rate and opportunities for women in urban
areas. But there is this issue of independent transport for the female individuals.
Like for men who cannot afford to own a car finds it economical to travel on motor
bikes, for women is our society a similar solution already exists in the form of
scooty. The issue here is the concern of propriety or level of comfort for many
female individuals that refrains them to use the economical and independent mode
of transport in our society. It is not only difficult to carry shalwar kameez and
dubatta while riding a bike but also is quite uncomfortable for many women to ride
a bike alone as they feel exposed on the open road especially of signal stops.
Therefore, I would like to propose a solution to this issue by working on the
aerodynamics and ergonomics of the Scooty. The aerodynamic solution would help
in keeping the clothes from blowing away the wind while riding, whereas the
ergonomic solution will cater to the comfort and safety of the female riders. This
will require me to work on the outer body of the scooty while working with the
already existing mechanical aspects of it.
