This project focuses on strengthening flood rescue operations by supporting
rescuers as well as victims during assisted flood rescue missions.
Flood is one of the most frequent, common, and widespread Natural disasters
in Pakistan. Every year when floods come, it brings destruction, and to cope
with the impact of this widespread disaster rescue operations are being carried
out but rescuers face many challenges while performing these operations. This
project discusses in detail about the challenges and problems that rescue and
victims face backed with the data gathered. Currently outdated procedures of
assisted evacuation demand rescuers to fight through rough Flood water in
order to save the stranded victims(especially the Vulnerable Group: Old
people, disabled people, females, and children, etc) and have to carry the
victim to safety in rough environmental conditions. Which costs valuable time,
energy, and physical effort.
The aim of this project is to propose a solution appropriate for the Pakistan
context and its available resources, which will help in enhancing the efficiency
of assisted rescue operations by eliminating the threat to security and safety
of rescuers and victims.
The project started with extensive background research followed by the
specification of aims and objectives based on research and gathered data. The
development phase started with the ideation of solutions to overcome the
challenges associated with rescue operations(in general). After initial ideation
and research, the scope/focus was narrowed down to Flood Rescue operations.
In this phase, concepts were finalized and tested. Which helped in proposing
the final design. The focus was on increasing the efficiency of flood rescue
operations and on improving rescue procedures.
"Plus one" is an amphibious flood rescue transportation which helps in
speeding up, simplifying, and modernizing the procedures of Solo assistive
Flood rescue operations in Pakistan. |
