KUT BUR: A Kitchen Appliance For Pakistani Cuisine Needs

Abstract

Pakistani cuisine in one rich and diverse in variety and cultural influences, including different tools and methods important to its processes and making. With the advancements in technology being earlier in the western world, more developments with respect to appliances to aid to ease of cooking have been seen in the west. Overtime which has spread into the eastern hemisphere and taken over the Pakistani kitchens, replacing the traditional tools used due to factors like efficiency, ease, and lesser effort. With this replacement I observe that the outcomes even though seemingly similar are actually different. The traditional way of grinding and crushing has been replaced by chopping and shredding, which has brought about a distinctive change in taste and also the nutritional benefits of the food we have in our houses today. Pakistani society is one that believes in creating daily meals with fresh produce rather than preserved and canned goods which means fresh prep for every meal is done. Hence longer times are spent in the hot kitchens daily. Hence, there are very limited solutions available that fulfil the traditional needs as well as provide ease with majority of the appliances fulfilling western needs. Therefore, a product solution in the form of an electrical kitchen appliance has been designed that caters to the needs of everyday kitchen prep. A compact design allowing multitude of functional options at two ends, with components designed to replicate the outcomes of manual work but with more finesse and efficiency. Making daily routines in the Pakistani kitchen(specifically) easier while still being in touch with our roots and leading healthier lifestyles.
