Abstract:
Every person around the world, regardless of their age, gender, religion, region etc,
faces some form of anxiety in their daily lives. Seeking professional help is often
considered a taboo in many cultures, with the person experiencing it being
considered weak. A lack of awareness and understanding regarding the topic is also
a major hurdle. If not taken care of promptly and properly, mild anxieties can add
up and interfere with daily life, leading to the development of other, more complex
emotions, anxiety disorders and serious mental health conditions.
Therefore, Mindquil promotes self-help and relaxation techniques by providing visual
and auditory guidance to the users to perform breathing exercises, cope with
routine anxiety and build resilience. Years of research and evidence prove the
effectiveness of several relaxation techniques and grounding exercises, deep
breathing being one of the quickest and most effective ones. Hence, Mindquil helps
in reducing the symptoms of anxiety and promoting feelings of relaxation, stability,
calmness, and emotional well-being, all through a small, portable, visually
captivating and ergonomic form. Inspired by biomimicry, the associated symbolism
and human response to elements found in nature and surroundings, design
decisions have been made with pebbles, ripples, lavender and lotus in mind.
