Abstract:
Automotive industry is drifting towards an ALL-Electric power trains and it was feared
that such cars might not have the fun factor like Internal combustion engines but
there were recent launches from the companies that cared for the driving experience
more than anything, they proved that the future might actually be much fun than
before as the electric powertrains which are more powerful (size to power ration) and
even smaller than IC engines, it is a totally different power platform from storage to
delivery of power and with much more available flexibility for assembly of
components.
Drag created on the rear of the car try to retard the car from moving forward which
is not a problem when talking about cars moving at slower speeds (up to 100 mph)
that is because the dynamics of the car are reinforced by the gearbox but in case of
cars based on in wheel motors which operate on direct drive principle (motor is
directly driving the wheels on the rotor so just as the drive is direct; the impact of
the retarding forces is also direct; so efficiency of such vehicles tend to vary with
time that is why the drag form the rear has impact on the vehicle dynamics even on
slower speeds (under 100mph).
The project is aimed at lessening the rear drag with creative aero dynamics without
a big usability trade-off.
The usability of Interior space will be improved by combining all the bits of space that
are wasted in between components (like electric motor and the power delivery
system) around the car is one place, this will let us have a much more useable
squared space with flexibility of use in different scenarios.
