Abstract:
Currently there are different types of football shoes for different surfaces available in the market, such as
AG (artificial ground), FG (firm ground), and SG (soft ground) boots that come with differently built
soleplates. These are so to enhance the performance of the shoe and the person, prevent injuries to the
person and wear and tear to the equipment. This project is aimed at making the shoe adaptable by allowing
it to be a hybrid between grippers and studs. The importance of this project is that it will provide the user
with a multi-functional product that maximizes playing potential and aimed at preventing the risks of
injuries as well. The methods used to achieve resu Its for this project were contextual inquiry, on line survey,
and case study. From analyzing the resu Its ofpreviously mentioned research approaches several things were
learned. One of which was that the customer prioritizes material of the shoe over the price, hence if the
product is good enough then the user will buy it. The second major point was that 70% of the participants
had had more than I pair of shoes signifying that they may have bought for different surfaces orjust fashion
statement as well. This possibility is narrowed down to the first option of 'different surfaces' by further
dissecting the conducted survey, according to the results, 65% of the participants had bought grippers,
which can be a make-shift shoe for natural grass but is optimal for artificial grass pitches.
After these findings it is clear that the user requires a hybrid shoe that can adapt to the surface it will be
used on, providing feasibility, aesthetics, comfort, and a sense of responsibility in buying patterns.
