Abstract

If modern product innovation and development has taught us anything it is this: it is no longer enough to have a properly functioning product. Rather one must ask oneself, does my product deliver a unique experience that fulfills an intrinsic need? That is the question that was found when looking at a standard audio speaker. Looking at how people generally enjoymusic and use speakers often in all sizes, it was recognized that the speaker is a product that has seen an evolution in terms of product form and specifications but what about the element of creating an experience? Perhaps one that allows for people with varying abilities, to feel like they are included in the experience as well! Once the idea came to mind an interactive musical device was ideated which could engage the user through audio, visual senses and allow them to enjoy music in their own way. This product will be able to help people feel like they can express themselves in their own unique way via a medium that they might have previously felt excluded from. And for users with varying abilities, this product will help them experience a deeper and richer connection to the music that they love and that moves them. According to the result ofmultiple assessments conducted, people responded positively and were fascinated by the product as it suggested creating new and exciting experiences and made them feel involved. The goal of this project is to show you how it was found that placing value on the element of experience opens an entirely new range of possibilities when it comes to product design.
