Color mixing is a fundamental aspect of painting that requires a deep
understanding of color theory and proficiency that comes with experience.
Artists, Designers and those who use paint as medium to express their
creativity often spend considerable time and effort in the color mixing stage to
achieve precise shades. Although the integration of AI has aided in identifying
accurate shades and providing formulas, it has not effectively reduced the
overall time and effort required. In this research while conducting a formative
study involving interviews, surveys, and observational studies with the
potential user aged 15-34, a conclusion is formed that the process of mixing
paint in order to achieve accurate and precise shades was a critical, effortful
and a time consuming aspect of the process. Based on these insights, I
developed an interactive design tool for paint enthusiasts, aiming to enhance
their efficiency and productivity. User studies conducted with the device
demonstrated a significant increase in painters' productivity, allowing them
more time for experimentation, exploration of different shades, and
refinement of their painting style. The analysis of the study results indicated
that Ditto positively impacted painters, enabling them to achieve satisfactory
results more efficiently while refining their painting skills and styles. |
