Abstract:
Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common disease in children. Children have to test their glucose
levels at least 3 times a day to monitor their condition. The primary innovation of our design is to
allow children a non-invasive way of testing glucose to promote independency while providing
them with an interactive experience and syncing the readings with parents. The existing method
exploits user experience as well is hazardous for domestic setting due to invasive blood sampling.
The design fulfills two goals; non-invasive way of glucose testing and providing an interactive
) experience. The device was evaluated in a pediatric diabetes clinic with medical officers, nurses,
parents and children. We evaluated our design with diabetic and healthy children. The design was
found to be accurate, effective, engaging, interactive and acceptable among the participants.
However, the limitations of the design were the adapting of technology by parents, that is the
application alert etc.
