Abstract:
Sunday bazars in Pakistan are local makeshift bazars under the CDA which provide the
community with cheap goods. The small shops are clustered together and overcrowded with
no shading along the pathways. As Pakistan is geographically a hot country, in the summer
season it causes heat to build up which in turn causes fatigue, sweating, foul odor,
exhaustion, and hyperthermia. The bazar only opens 3/7 days, so the shopkeepers must make
the most of it. I created a product using biomimicry that is sustainable and modular that can
be installed individually on each shop. It provides shade and cooling, and thus uplifts the user
experience. It is energy independent and can be disassembled. The application of biomimicry
of trees is applied so that it matches the aesthetic ofislamabad as a 'clean and green city'.
The findings include data on the overall satisfaction of the customer having a positive rating.
Results showed that catering to the customers comfort also increased business and promotes
the community aspect of Sunday bazar.
