This project aims to promote the development of a post-natal circadian
rhythm within infants by regulating the air and light in their environment. By
collecting data from ongoing studies i.e., The NYU baby sleep study and NIH
studies on circadian rhythms as well as interviewing medical professionals
and new parents to get both real-time and scientific data on the correlation
between the environment and the circadian rhythm, a conclusion can be
formed that specifically within Pakistan infants are subject to a lack of both
mental and physical development specifically due to negligence in their
environment, specifically relating to their air quality and on a secondary
standpoint their light exposure. Furthermore, there is a discrepancy in the
awareness of parents as to how their indoor environment is affecting both
the health and growth of their infant. In the long run, the product will
regulate a child's environment to allow them to develop in the healthiest
possible way both physically and mentally by both adjusting their circadian
rhythm using light, improving air quality to decrease their susceptibility to
life-threatening illnesses, and the short run Infants will have a better night
sleep, thus be well rested and less fussy, thus not only will they be healthier
but it will also work towards reducing the parent's frustration thus improving
their relationship with the baby and each other. |
