Respiratory disorders pose significant challenges in pediatric healthcare,
necessitating the development of child-friendly nebulizer solutions that
address medication adherence and anxiety issues. The proposed design
presents an innovative approach to address these challenges through the
conceptualization and development of a nebulizer specifically designed for
young patients. The nebulizer incorporates a character-based design, a
metronome-inspired breathing guidance system, customizable accessories,
and convenient medication checkpoints. The effectiveness and user
acceptance of the nebulizer were evaluated through rigorous usability testing
conducted in both household and hospital environments. The results of the
testing demonstrated positive outcomes, indicating improved respiratory
therapy experiences, and enhanced cognitive learning among children. The
findings of this research hold significant implications for the healthcare
industry, emphasizing the importance of user-centred design in paediatric
respiratory care. The proposed nebulizer offers a valuable solution to enhance
respiratory treatment for children, promoting medication adherence,
alleviating anxiety, and contributing to improved overall healthcare outcomes. |
