Abstract:
"Architecture as a catalyst in reviving the symbiotic relationship between man and wild"
In this research project I explore what role can architecture play in preserving harmony between
man and nature. My chosen site is Lohi Bher, a once popular Safari Park, in Islamabad, Pakistan.
In the last 12 years this Park has seen a considerable decrease in local visitors due to rapid
urbanization and deforestation. In my thesis project I explore ways of revitalizing the park by
adding a research center and veterinarian hospital within the park.
I've explored how architecture can interact with natural landscapes and have studied how
anthrozoology, biophilic, and sustainable design can help us build an environment that is
friendly for both humans and the natural kingdom. My project is both a recreational facility and
a research center where local visitors, zookeepers, conservationists, philanthropists and
researchers can explore their love for flora and fauna.
