Abstract:
Pakistan possesses inadequate and insubstantial infrastructure towards disaster
management and response services due to which the country faces severe amounts of property
damage, life losses and economic setbacks following such calamities. Studies show that the
effects of these damages are immensely multiplied due to lack of timely and effective response,
poor management, lack of awareness and scarcity of resources. This thesis aims to investigate
the shortcomings in the existing disaster relief facilities and filling the gap of an absent
emergency response, management and education institute that works under one roof to deal
with all sorts of natural and man induced disasters in an effective manner. The community as a
whole is expected to function better under a controlled and primed management facility to
minimize the detrimental consequences of catastrophes.
