Planning and Scheduling of a High Rise Building Using Primavera Project Planner P5

Abstract

In construction, schedules have taken a very important role. Like Master Schedule is for use of contractor-Client meetings, detailed schedule is made for use of project manager, construction manager, and site supervisors to see what they have done, where they are standing; and what they have to do in next few hours or days? Both help them in clearly identifying the upcoming constraints, issues and risks to the project. Besides, the schedule can be kept upgraded, so as to resolve the claims, level the resources, and most important is to work on schedule so that entire project is not delayed. We have prepared one such schedule for construction activity of a high rise building. Limitation of this schedule is that it can only be executed on twin towers Gulmohar tower and Lignum tower in Gold Crest Islamabad. A project like this requires a broad knowledge of project management, site conditions, and design of structures and the way in which they are constructed. We gained this knowledge from the course of project management taught to us in Military College of Engineering, Risalpur Cantonment. Besides, we gained it by attending seminars and various courses during end semester break and during internship at site of Gold Crest. They really helped us a lot in gaining practical knowledge.
