Abstract:
Rising floods, water pollution, disruption of aquatic ecosystems, unchecked urbanization and a general
trend towards destructive tourism have been observed as the norm in Pakistan. This poses a bleak outlook
for the future of water reservoirs, with limited awareness and readiness to address these challenges.
However, architecture can offer a potential solution by creating environments that foster innovation,
ambition, and a culture of change.
Thus, it is imperative that an aquatic research center be established that addresses issues related to water
and its associated challenges. The center will serve as a hub for research, education, and awarenessbuilding,
providing valuable resources to tackle these issues. The design of the center is inspired by the
principles of neurobiophilia, which explores the relationship between humans and their natural
surroundings, and it will feature experiential and interactive spaces that showcase the latest research and
technologies. Programs will be offered for research, education, and recreation, encouraging public
engagement and ownership.
The proposed design is a dynamic, multipurpose complex that seamlessly blends with its surroundings.
Sustainability and environmental revitalization are the key considerations, andthe center will serve as a
space for healing and regeneration. The generated revenue will support ongoing efforts to improve the
natural environment and the communities that depend on it, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future for all. The establishment of this aquatic research
center will provide a promising approach towards addressing the water-related challenges in Pakistan
