Abstract:
Over the years, Cricket become a part of the Culture identity of Pakistan and still exists today
as an amalgamation of Sports & Traditions. But the stadiums of Pakistan are unable to do
justice to the passion of cricket found & celebrated by this nation.
This thesis targets the functional issue of the neglection of stadium typology on non-match
days in Pakistan. All the existing stadiums in Pakistan are Single-Purposed Traditional sporting
structure which is the reason behind the lack of usability of stadium on non-match days. This
called for a user conscious designed sporting structure, which will result in the usability of the
stadium year-round.
Stadiums should integrate fan experience and community user's requirements-based
programs, in order for the Stadium to belong to the people and for it to give back to the
community, resulting in the year-round revenue generation.
This thesis returns the stadium to the people as a vital component of the community and a
gathering space for the citizens. It focuses on Integrating the Urban Fabric, Redesigning the
single-purpose traditional Stadium functionality & forming a spectator/user-based design.
