dc.description.abstract Change is coming to remote areas due of globalization with its advanced form of technology, communication and new ideas, making societies live in a transition, between a long established culture and a new lifestyle with different expectations. Hunza a region in the north of Pakistan is facing similar issues. The swift change brought by new access routes and communication with the cities has resulted in a change of individual's approach towards the built environment and subsequently, changing the rural habitat of the region. New building materials, advanced technology and innovative design concepts are coming to this region which the locals happily approve without any previous knowledge or any future direction. It is apparent that the locals desire for progress and advancement which is relatively a positive gesture towards a promising future. Hence in the leap towards adopting this new image the locals somewhere forget the suitability and aptness of the new ideas whether in form of materials, design or its implementation. This thesis is therefore an attempt to address the current idea of a community center taking into account the changing social structure, built environment, regional climate and availability of local resources. en_US
