dc.description.abstract High speed, error free transmission, maximum utilization of resources, and good quality of service have always been the foremost priorities of any networking technology. Unfortunately, the technologies currently used attain these qualities but at the expense of each other. ASYNCHRONOUS TRANSFER MODE (ATM) is a new technology protocol which gives all these services to the maximum possible ratio. In this project, we have tried to study this technology along with its pros and cons relative to other technologies. We have also made a simulation of ATM based network. It will demonstrate the services implementable by the use of ATM technology. en_US
