dc.description.abstract We, in our project, have developed a scalable solution to the wireless VolP. The solution consists of software part. All the functionality is provided on the server and end user devices. Wireless devices present in hotspot of a wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b) will be able to connect to the server and make calls to the other wireless devices in any other wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b). A major part of the project will be to develop an application (soft phone) for usage over the wireless handheld devices like PDAs. This application allows the wireless device to connect to the server using the SIP protocol. Common uses will be for businesses with remote factories and warehouses, and on campuses. The implementation of the project has been divided into four stages. These stages are mentioned as follows: Implementation of SIP protocol. Development of soft phone. Development of a low bit rate CODEC on Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ for Windows CE. Integration and complete testing of the system in various scenarios. Our project is Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ based. This is a special tool for developing applications for windows CE.The version used, as the platform is Microsoft Embedded Visual C++ 4. en_US
