Abstract:
The Computer Repair Facility (CRF) provides maintenance facility for
equipments that are brought or purchased by the College officially and,
thus registered with the college on ledgers at the SMT and at the inventory
cell. These equipments include Computers, Laptops, Printers, Plotters,
Scanners, Multimedia devices and Universal Power Supplies etc. Any
equipment that is purchased or brought inside the college for official use is
assigned a unique Registration No.
The CRF maintains their records in the old traditional manner, like in
files and registers, manually. The maintenance of data and the retrieval of
records from this large number of files is a very cumbersome and difficult
job and require lot of time. Sometimes files or registers are misplaced,
damaged or unavailable because of human errors due to which the data
becomes no more reliable or sufficient.
Computer Repair Management Information System (CRMIS) is
developed and designed after thorough study of the current working
system and the procedures for maintaining the records of the CRF and by
observing the weaknesses in the system. Requirements of the potential
users of CRMIS like the OIC, HOD, SO NUST, Deputy Commandant,
Commandant and especially of the clerical staff have been analyzed
comprehensively and successfully been incorporated in CRMIS. The
database includes both the relational as well non-relational entities.
It is expected that CRMIS will optimize the performance of the CRF by
providing the desired information instantly and electronically. It will also
enhance the confidence of the command and staff for the management of
technical activities of the college in an efficient and effective manner. It has
been deployed at Local Servers in the Data Processing Cell and it is running
through college LAN.
