dc.description.abstract After manufacturing and retail marketing, healthcare is considered the next home for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). Although in its infancy, RFID technology has great potential in healthcare to significantly reduce cost, and improve patient safety and medical services. However, the challenge will be to incorporate RFID into medical practice, especially when relevant experience is limited. To explore this issue, we conducted a case study that demonstrated RFID integration into the medical world at one Holy Family hospital, Rawalpindi Innovative and productive of several significant results, the project established an infrastructure and platform allowing for other applications. In this report we describe the development strategy, design, and implementation of the project. We discuss our findings pertaining to the collaborative development strategy, device management, data management, and value generation. These findings have important implications for developing RFID applications in healthcare organizations. Apart from the normal tracking and management this software system is also designed to enhance management of resources at a hospital during a mass casualty situation. Our system uses asset tags to track patients, equipment and staff during the response to a disaster. The system integrates tag position information with data from personnel databases, medical information systems, registration in a custom visual disaster management environment. This project also computerizes the working in a hospital. The software takes care of all the requirements of an average hospital and is capable to provide easy and effective storage of information related to patients that come up to the hospital. It generates test reports; provide prescription details including various tests, diet advice, and medicines prescribed to patient and doctor. It also provides injection details and billing facility on the basis of patient’s status whether it is an indoor or outdoor patient. The system also provides the facility of backup as per the requirement en_US
