FACE RECOGNITION BASED ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

Abstract

Marking attendance has been given great importance in any educational system. This project is about making an efficient attendance system using face recognition. The project is aimed at reducing the time wasted in the class for marking attendance. A camera is to be placed in front of the class that will take the picture of the whole class according to the specific time table of the class (keeping track of starting and ending time) .The pictures will be then fed to the haar cascade identifier which will detect the faces from the picture. The detected faces will then be recognized and matched with the already maintained database. For 85% matches the attendance of the students in the picture will be marked present. The attendance will be marked along with the date and time when the picture is taken into our attendance system
