Abstract:
This study presents the development of a cost-effective and reliable coolant liquid level
sensor for heavy-duty automotive and industrial machinery. The paper introduces a novel sensor
structure designed to address the limitations of traditional sensors, focusing on enhanced
ruggedness and reliability in extreme temperatures and undulating terrains. The research
emphasizes the need to replace conventional sensors with a more dependable alternative, aiming
to provide accurate and consistent readings under challenging conditions. This is achieved by
leveraging a magnetic float and reed switch mechanism, which eliminates the need for nontraditional level sensing methods. Real-time data acquisition is facilitated by the reed switch and
magnetic float system, with experimental tests conducted on heavy-duty vehicles under various
extreme conditions. Despite the availability of advanced digital sensors, magnetic float valves
remain prevalent due to their reliability and ruggedness in nature.
