Abstract:
Due to lack of administration, several polling stations have witnessed almost no security resulting in a string of rigging attempts including people trying to cast multiple votes. Moreover, the lack of opportunity to cast votes from another city has led to a dire need for some sort of a mending system.
Cloud-based e-voting system is a website designed that provides all registered voters a secure and easy means of voting from any polling station in Pakistan. It makes sure that no rigging takes place and that no multiple votes are casted by one person.
Our system works in a way that the voter goes to any polling station in Pakistan. Assuming his/her data is already entered and that he has been registered, he/she is prompted to enter his/her CNIC. Once the CNIC is entered, the system checks if the voter had already casted the vote or no. If the vote was already casted, he/she is not allowed to go further. On the other hand, if the voter hasn’t voted, he/she is asked to verify himself/herself via thumb print after which he/she may be asked to vote for both the National and the Provincial Assembly. Whatever option he/she selects, he/she may be shown the candidates of his/her constituency. He/she may now vote after which his/her vote gets saved in the database. As soon as the time for voting ends, all the regions calculate the votes and send to another server using SSL which displays the result.
Hence, the problems that were mentioned above have all been catered.
