Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to study the impact of self-concept on career
decision-making self-efficacy of secondary school students. The concept of Self-
Concept is defined as a portrayal of the self in some character or position performing a
set of functions, or in a group of relationships. The phenomena of Career Decision-
Making Self-Efficacy (CDMSE) refers to an individual's degree of belief that one can
successfully complete tasks necessary to making substantial career decisions. The study
is quantitative in nature. The sample comprises of 164 O-Level Final Year-Science
stream students of private secondary schools of Islamabad selected through systematic
random sampling technique. For data collection, two instruments have been used;
Tennessee Self-Concept Scale™, Second Edition (TSCS™:2) (1996) and Career
decision-making self-efficacy Scale (CDMSE) (1996) Short Form for studying selfconcept
and career decision-making self-efficacy of students respectively. The results
indicate that self-concept is a significant predictor of career decision-making selfefficacy.
The findings and recommendations of the study have been presented in the
study.
