dc.description.abstract In this project a fingerprint based security system has been developed for a department utilizing the Fingerprint verification in order to validate the authorized persons. The image acquisition is done using an optical fingerprint reader. The acquired fingerprint image is visually enhanced, segmented and saved as a template composed of extracted fingerprint features. This template generation is performed as modular programming in software. The template is then compared with the templates present in the database, which were acquired and processed beforehand. This database also contains the requisite information of authorized persons which in turn can be used for multipurpose applications. In the end the information about the authorized person or the intruder will be displayed at the output unit attached to the system. en_US
