Abstract:
The multi-media communication in Wireless Sensor Networks has got vital
importance these days particularly in military applications for surveillance. Since,
the nodes are deployed so randomly, making sure that communication is up and
running in every scenario, is a challenging task.
The communication among the nodes (sensors) in WSNs has posed different issues
at different OSI layers. Therefore, there is a need to bring efficiency in the working
of protocols at these layers. But amongst them, routing layer has issues of unique
kind which can be resolved only by keeping in view of the different constraints of
this network like low energy consumption, and low latency, particularly for multimedia
communication. We have set our goal towards routing. For that, we will
simulate and compare certain routing protocols, specific to Sensor Networks, and
compare their results. We will take the energy dissipation, average network latency
and throughput as the deciding parameters for the efficiency of the given protocols
