Abstract:
Pakistan and China signed a project in July 2013, to lay the fiber optic cable between Rawalpindi and Kashgar. '‘Huawei”, one of the leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider has been assigned this task. The project is worth $44 million and will be completed within a span of two years. Our project work shall lead to a link design, practical enough to be implemented. This design would enable Pakistan to connect to rest of the world through the Trans-Asia Europe cable in China. The project will offset security threats of undersea cables, provide alternative routes for international telecom traffic, reduce internet down time, provide additional security and simulate trade, tourism and IT awareness. It is estimated to generate revenue of $1.5 billion in the first three years.
