The proposed solution, CALVRI, is a self-contained online application to promote e-governance in Pakistan. It is intended for the use by the general public. It is basically a portal where they can access, view and apply for a limited number of traffic services (initially) at their ease. Users can access information regarding their vehicles, licensing credentials and details about traffic violations and taxes. They are also able to apply online for license renewal, and pay taxes and fines online or through mobile payment options. The traffic wardens are able to view profiles of traffic violators and are able to issue online e-challans on the spot. They are also able to view live alerts and statistics of the concerned area of duty and all over Islamabad. When an e-challan is issued, the violator’s profile is updated with a challan and he/she receives an automated SMS notifying the details of the violation. Access to the general public is granted through their CNIC numbers and to the traffic wardens through predefined usernames. Traffic wardens will access the portal on duty through their tablets/smartphones. |
