Abstract:
Network Weather Forecasting (NWF) is a tool that will forecast the behavior of the network by forecasting various network parameters e.g. Available Bandwidth, Throughput, Round Trip Time etc. This tool will enable the system administrators, network analysts and scientists with data intensive needs, to visualize the behavior of the network based on the historical behavior of the network. The tool will also enable the user to visualize the correlation between the active measurement forecasting and passive measurement forecasting. The research would be focused, not only, on how to use the forecasting more effectively but also on identifying various forecasting approaches that can effectively forecast the active network data, considering the varying behavior the data possesses. In order to effectively forecast the weather of the network we need to make effective use of the historical data we have. The tool would enable the user to provide how long in the future the user wants to forecast.
