Estimation and Schedulling of Garden Avenue Apartments at Chak Shahzad, Islamabad

Abstract

Cost estimation and scheduling are the most important aspects of construction planning, construction project has a very minor chance of success if there is no proper estimation of its cost and scheduling of its activities. Every project has a specific set of objectives and constraints such as required time for completion. A project is a unique, one time endeavor with a specific start and an end with a certain budget. So in order to achieve success, proper cost estimation should be performed and proper schedule must be planned. The primary objective of estimation is to determine the overall quantities of the activities required for the project on the basis of which required material is procured and resources are assigned. Second objective was to perform the scheduling of the project. Scheduling determines the overall duration of the project including the start and finish dates of each activity along with that of the project. The durations that are assigned to the ,activities in the schedule are calculated with the help of the already prepared estimate. Another important objective was to gain practical knowledge and to learn some of the technical terms through frequent site visits of a real world project. Outcome of the project is a detailed estimate of a real world project and a thorough schedule that gives an idea about the duration of the project along with the proper resource usage. The project helped in enhancing the knowledge base, abilities and critical thinking process. It also helped to enhance the critical thinking process. The whole project was useful in improving the working capabilities on the software like MS Excel, Primavera and also various other analysis.
