dc.description.abstract The objective of this project was to determine and study the project management practices that were undertaken during the construction of the Kashmir highway. We visited the construction site periodically and interacted with the personnel that were directly or indirectly involved with the ongoing project. We inquired about how the construction was carried out on the entire project, what project management knowledge areas are they actually implementing on the ongoing project and how these practices are helping them out during the construction phase. The findings indicated that developers of the project had initially planned to carry out the project in accordance with the project management practices but the socioeconomic condition of Pakistan have caused delays in the project, resulting increase in the cost of the project. The application of project management knowledge areas such as Contract Management, Time Management, Cost Management, Quality Management, Human Resource Management Risk Management and Procurement Management ensure timely completion of the project, within the allocated resources and achieving desired goals and objectives. The findings of this study and the methodology might be useful for other students. This work provides useful information for project managers and real estate developers who desire to carry out construction in accordance with the professional project management practices. en_US
