Quality of construction project is mainly depended on quality of construction materials and the workmanship. The quality of building project depends on the quality of materials used in it. Two things are of great importance to check the level of quality management implementation in the building projects of Pakistan. a) Technical system of quality management b) Managerial system of quality management. The technical system includes the tools and techniques whereas management system includes critical factors of quality management. The construction industry of Pakistan has been struggling with quality issues from a long time. The absence of quality regulatory body and the non-availability of local quality standard specifications could not give a clear direction to local construction materials industry and forced them to follow international standards for high quality products.
This issue has also resulted in production of many inferior and fake products. The purpose of this report is to study the quality management systems used in building projects by the help of a case study of DHA Valley. The industry rivalry in today’s market has been amplified rapidly. The customer’s satisfaction in terms of quality becomes the construction company’s main concern. The reason of the quality management is to build elevated quality buildings. The study gives a vigilant explanation of quality management as experienced by the DHA Valley. The study enables to understand how quality management is applied and connects participants in particular construction area like DHA Valley Project. It is very important to perk up the quality of construction projects and to obtain better results and productivity during its implementation.
Various sources of data have been gathered in this report, including meticulous project reports, documents from DHA Valley, newspapers, construction law and standards in Pakistan etc. An exploratory approach has been adopted by studying the available literature to create a quality management framework for building projects. The final goal is to provide project engineers, managers, supervising consultants and contractors with knowledge that can aid them become more efficient and productive with their inadequate resources and as a consequence attains better quality outcomes. |
