dc.description.abstract Future generation of wireless system is focusing on the transmission schemes that achieve higher data rates and increased reliability. 4th Generation wireless systems & protocols are targeting to achieve these objectives by using different techniques, the most important of which is appending spatial dimension to the system by using multiple antennas both at the transmitter and receiver, i.e., Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems. Different modes of transmission target one or both of these objectives. This project shall focus on the mode of transmission that targets enhanced reliability of the transmission. In third generation partnership project (3GPP) long term evolution (LTE), this mode of transmission is termed as mode 2. In this project, we shall develop a baseline Long Term Evolution (LTE) system, i.e. a transmitter and receiver equipped with two antennas each and the system will be deployed in the frequency domain. To this end, the system will employ orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based transmission system. en_US
