Abstract:
This paper focuses on the demographic transition in Pakistan and its probable dividend or loss to the economy. Discussion on the existence of demographic dividends and their benefits has been surfacing for quite some time. The influence of certain variables like saving rates, human capital and economic growth, on the demographic structure of Pakistan are observed. An attempt has been made to quantify the impact of demographic transition on the economic well-being. As suggested by Dr. Durr-e-Nayab, who mentioned the possibility of a demographic dividend under favorable circumstances, favorable policy recommendations are also analyzed.
