dc.description.abstract Mobile robotics is a developing field. Its roots include many engineering and science disciplines, from mechanical, electrical & electronics engineering to computer, cognitive and social sciences. In today’s industrial and educational environment a robot is not something that is hard to find, we can find a mechanical assistant for the human being in almost any application. Welcoming and Path navigator is a mobile robot designed, primarily to welcome and navigate visitors coming to universities & hospitals along with other applications. It is designed to encounter a commonly faced issue that whenever we visit a new place we are unable to navigate through that place to our destination. For this very purpose we have developed this path navigator. It is developed on the foundation of line following robot, which is an autonomous robot which navigates by following a line present on the surface beneath the robot. The specifications of the line are in terms of its width and its color with respect to the color of the background, but the innovation introduced to this robot is its capability to recognize different check points. For this purpose we have used IR signaling. IR pulses also help to count the number of check points. en_US
