Abstract:
This project in its present form is the result of automation of a nutrition care plan.
The initial idea was to develop intuitive, user-friendly interface software, automating health management system and information flows, which can provide assistance in weight management programs and enable physicians to create and run well-specified assessment practices in order to identify those requiring the nutrition intervention. It helps nutrition professionals to properly analyze and track the nutritional needs of clients/patients and anticipate, recognize, evaluate and control health hazards like obesity, diabetes, and cardiac problems. The main components of this software are weight management module, nutrition recommendation module, exchange list meal planning, interactive menu planner, and reporting module and help system. Visual basic 6.0 has been used for the front-end development and MS Access 2000 for the data storage. I have used Crystal Report 9 of crystal decisions for developing a reporting module and HelpScribble for developing help system. Approach taken was a software development approach, starting with requirements gathering phase proceeded with system and database design, implementation and testing. The only realistic solution for addressing the obesity crisis and other diet problems is the development of tools that allow individuals to manage their own energy balance equation (calories in vs. calories out) by automating the manual nutrition care plan system. So I developed weight management and nutrition software that measure important health parameters and provides the complete weight management solution to manage the energy balance equation personalized to the individual.
