Mobile Market of Pakistan has increased to 150% in 2005 with more than 22 Million subscribers according to the statistics released by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Mobile operators are providing different value added services (VAS) in order to increase and retain their customers. The market for providing services to mobile phones is immense here in Pakistan, as mobile phones have out numbered personal computers. Memory, processing power of mobile phones is increasing day by day which facilitates operators to provide services to their subscribers.
The project “Service Delivery Platform for Mobile Devices” is about providing an infrastructure or a platform on which we can develop numerous content-based services to mobile phones. My aim is to provide different content-based services for mobile phones. The services can vary from organization to organization but the underlying platform will remain same. For example NIIT Students can access their grades, attendance etc on their mobile phones. Services like news, weather; horoscopes will also be provided to users. Users can also send and receive email information on their mobile phones. These services are based on SMS. Each organization will be a new market space for the mobile operators because it will increase their number of SMS. Secondly, I will develop a mobile community for mobile users through which they can find other mobile users and can make them friends. Mobile Communities are based on WAP over GPRS and will increase operators GPRS utilization. |
