In the recent past, Different countries specially Pakistan has become susceptible to frequent terrorist attacks. Many Government departments are working to fight terrorist activities but they lack adequate facilities and equipment to search and survey the suspicious areas quickly on the other side of hills/ obstructions. In this research project, it was aimed to design, test, develop and fabricate an un-manned portable micro air vehicle, which can be used for security and surveillance against terrorist attacks and threats. It is a low cost micro air vehicle having wing spam less than 12 inches, weighing 58grams including all aircraft systems, which a person can easily carry with him, and may use it to survey the situation on other side of a hill or hindrance. The vehicle has about 25-30 minutes of flight time and 1 km of flight range extendable to 3km using 1000mW RC signal amplifier. The work involved study and analysis of the existing micro aircraft systems/ micro air vehicles, and design, develop, fabricate and test all aircraft systems. The detailed work included fabrication of final aircraft structure after successive CFD, wind-tunnel and Flight tests, designing and development of power system for Micro Air Vehicle, flight control system, vision system capable of 2km line of sight wireless AV transmission, sensor system, Electronic propulsion system, designing and fabrication of system test beds for testing and analysis of aircraft systems including thrust measurement and static endurance analysis, finally the integration of all aircrafts systems and structure was done to produce a final product. Further flight testing for flying time of 25-30 minutes, flight range and endurance testing was successfully done. |
