dc.description.abstract The thesis presents a small F-shaped patched antenna where modern wireless communication technology utilizes MIMO antennas for efficient communication. The proposed antenna consists of two F-shaped slots that are etched on either side of the ground plane, which also makes it compact in size. The bandwidth we calculated at 10 dB return loss is 137 MHz with center frequency of 2.45 GHz which effectively covers WLAN applications. This project is to incorporate MIMO antenna system in USB dongles which is embedded in the device, a feature that is not available in conventional devices. Using the antenna system, the device will be able to achieve high data rate. The MIMO operation will also increase the efficiency and reliability of the USB dongle at Wi-Fi band. To validate the proposed design, an experimental prototype has been fabricated and tested. Good agreement between measured and simulated results has been found. The designed antenna has been simulated in High Frequency Structural Simulator (Ansoft HFSS) 13.0. en_US
