dc.description.abstract In order to ensure safety of the occupants, every building is designed on the provisions of a building code followed in that locality. Pakistan follows its own building code i.e. Building Code of Pakistan 2007 (BCP-2007) which is based on Unified Building Code - 1997 ( UBC-97). Since UBC-97 was already an older version of code at the time when BCP-2007 was developed, it has now grown obsolete. Its procedures provide values that are exaggerated and thus leads to a design that is more costly and over reinforced. This project is aimed at head to head comparison of the procedures under BCP-2007 and a more advanced code ASCE 7-16. Various Engineering parameters such as Displacement, Overturning Moment, Story shear etc. are determined through Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure (ELF) and Response Spectrum Analysis Procedure (RSA) while Linear Time History Analysis Procedure is kept as a benchmark. en_US
