Abstract:
In this cut throat era where the competition is getting higher between the manufacturing industries dealing in similar kind of business, for any manufacturing organization to stay in the market it must have the ability to deal with shorter lead times & flexibility to deal with customized products. For this, manufacturing industry needs to make the best utilization of available resources & become more productive.
The company under study is a leading footwear manufacturer & exporters. In the field of footwear manufacturing where the customization is so high & order quantities are short, manufacturers need to have a flexibility & optimized process to be in the competition. So the company under consideration is having some serious problem in their closing (sewing) section.
This study will focus at root cause analysis for low productivity & high manufacturing cost & resulting in enhancing process capability, developing SOPs for process optimization, implementation & control of SOPs, increasing productivity by 10-15% & reduce manufacturing cost per pair using six sigma DMAIC approach
