Abstract:
Natural disaster and armed conflicts are the main reasons for displacement and camp has been the most effective aid in fulfilling the requirements of the displaced people but on the other side it has some limitation that making it very difficult for the families living inside the camp to cope up. The study was conducted in Jalozai Camp which focused on the problems associated with displaced people within the camp. Jalozai camp is the largest camp in Pakistan hosting internally displaced people (IDPs) since 1980s.This camp has been divided into eight phases by PDMA and at present hosting about 12,670 families from Khyber agency .The purpose of this research was to study the current living condition of IDPs living inside the Jalozai Camp. Moreover the research analyzes the various problems being faced by displaced people in the camp through the study of important sectors including Food, Health, WASH, Shelter, and education etc. A mix method of qualitative and quantitative approach was adopted to achieve the exploratory purposes through questionnaire and FGDs. The findings indicate that IDPs reside inside the camp faced serious problems regarding access to basic facilities such as health facilities, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), food and education. The study will also provide a number of guidelines which can provide solutions to the problems identified by the finding. The study will enable the Camp planners, decision makers, administration and other humanitarian organizations to focus on the guidelines, which will in turn to improve the living condition of the people in camp.
