dc.description.abstract A component based modeling methodology for turbocharger is exercised to predict its dynamic response while accelerating the vehicle in different transmission / gear ratios with different speed laps at wide open throttle conditions. Slower response time i.e. Turbo lag phenomenon of turbocharger is also highlighted by incorporating polar moment of inertia of rotor in this model. The software MATLAB is employed for simulation of model. Calculations / measurements are made on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR 2.0L turbocharged / intercooled engine. The developed model is employed to calculate time of acceleration of turbocharged SI Engine, rotational speed of engine, rotational speed of turbocharger and boost pressure to cover the desired speed lap in a given transmission ratio. The calculated results showed a good agreement with the experimental data. The entire response of turbocharger is drawn on compressor performance map. en_US
