dc.description.abstract Transportation network has share of 1551714 PKR million in GDP of Pakistan for fiscal year 2017. Traffic contributes about 13.27% in GDP of Pakistan for 2017 whereas fuel consumed by traffic is 35% of total energy resources. WHO 2017 has ranked Rawalpindi 2nd most air polluted city of Pakistan and according to a world bank report over 2 million population of Rawalpindi inhales contaminated air regularly. Present effort aims to identify traffic congestion problems of Rawalpindi Saddar(GPO-Kacheri),coordinating the signals using pre-timed protected phasing(ITS).Longer delays at intersection and slow traffic speed on links are damaging the environment of Rawalpindi. Suggestions include suitable economic efficient solution for relieving traffic congestion and to reduce travel time, fuel consumption and environmental costs. en_US
