Abstract:
Hydrogen production from Biomass is under ever-increasing investigation as an environmentally clean fuel for future energy systems. Recently, due to the environmental considerations as well as the increasing demand for energy in the world, more attention has been paid to develop new energy sources and hydrogen is paving the way for clean energy systems.
Biomass residues such as bagasse are more appropriate fuels and offer the greatest obstacle to researchers and gasification system manufacturers. However very limited research has been carried out in gasification of biomass residues.
The objective of our project is to design a two stage pyrolysis-gasification reactor system for more efficient hydrogen production through the usage of catalysts. The main advantage of biomass gasification is that a wide range of cheap and non-food feedstock are available. Extraction of hydrogen from biomass will act as a source of renewable energy. We believe that our findings will make a small but significant contribution in the field of sustainable energy resources.
