Abstract:
Billions of tons of wastage are produced globally because of construction and demolition waste and these wastages are increasing constantly every year. Construction waste causes very serious socio-economic and environmental problems. Leading problems are wastage of natural aggregates, soil pollution, water pollution, energy consumption and production of greenhouse gases. The main objective of this research is to reduce the construction & demolition waste and develop a construction waste management framework based upon critically identified factors. The methodology used in this research is interpretive structure modeling (ISM), which classifies factors basing upon their dependence and driving power. In first phase 30 different factors were identified from the extensive literature review.
