dc.description.abstract Swat is an increasingly popular tourist destination but not easily accessible to general public due to its rugged and mountainous terrain. Swat Motorway Project was launched to mitigate these issues. Current geometrical design of the road exposes the motorway to geotechnical distress, slope failure and rock fall. On and off landslide and rock fall takes place blocking the motorway thus hindering the economic and daily life of region. The research was undertaken to characterize the material of slope, study the underlying factors and evaluate the factor of safety. This research involved geotechnical investigation encompassing field and laboratory testing. The research aims to present a solution basing on the field observation, literature review and analysis carried out using SLIDE software en_US
